Hey guys, it’s been awhile.  Now as you know this site is made by StudioDYV, while we care very much for OLA, we also have alot of other duties to adhere to.  Since everyone has been busy with school and other issues, we felt it was a good opportunity to focus more on our major Projects.  OLA is not dead, and it will never die because art will never die.  The group always goes to the Saturday Sketch Sessions at 2pm north of Square One at Chapters.  We haven’t missed one since we have started.  We also still do the friday sessions in Sheridan College at Oakville.

I don’t want this to go away but i believe in order for this movement to flourish I need to pass alot of the responsibilities to someone else.   So I (J. Aaron Ong) would like to open the doors to people that would love to help this movement go.  If you don’t know I have had to manage this entire site all on my own, and it has not been easy.  So what i would like is to step back and talk about what do we really want from this site.

I would like to open up OLA and see what everyone would like to do for the group.  As of right now all we really need to do is have alot of web developers and designers to re-create this site.  of course there are more issues to also talk about.  What do you guys feel about Not-for-profit? do you guys feel that this is the only way to go for OLA?

So i know not alot of people are really gonna read this right now since alot of the members are still in school and a few are busy with work.  But i’m here opening up OLA for anyone that would love to help take the responsibility to take it further.

Hi guys, i know everyones really busy… too busy to interact in OLA so we’ll be keeping this site downlow for awhile and discuss the future of this website.  Everything still works but the uploading of images will be in progress and wont be working for awhile.  The list for the tables in Artist Alley is still happening so if anyone of you guys would like to join us there, please let us know.  Peace and Luv everyone!

Hi guys i hope your New Year Celebration was a good one! Now it’s time to kick it into high gear.  big plans will be up ahead with OLA and I wish you all the best to your upcoming semesters, ventures into new projects, or just developing your skills!

Sorry for any inconvenience but we’re still making fixes on the site.  The avatar is now working again, but i think it has problems with gifs.  The site will undergo little changes for now, so it will look a bit weird for a couple of days.  Thanks for your attention ^^ have a kick ass day!

Okay guys once again! Sketch Session! the last Sketch Session for September.  And if you can’t make it of course its okay, there’s always next week!! so no need to explain if you can’t make it, of course when you come down we’ll greet you with open arms!

For those who are curious where it is, its gonna be in Starbucks in the Chapters by Square One.  We were thinking of open places but i heard it might rain and its getting pretty cold and windy.  So coffee and sketches! We will be there at 2pm or 1pm if i can make it that early ^^ Cya there! Peace and Luv!

Okay guys its that time again! It seems like the weather is gonna be really nice so we’re thinking of going to Civic Center City Hall (at 2pm of course).  If the weather does not co-operate with us or everyone is not so sure about being outside for too long.  Comment bellow and we can work something out.  Worse comes to worse we draw back in Starbucks again.  Any issues going there Give me a Text or a Call at  416-417-9739. Nothing like a Sketch Session to get our hands warmed up for the crazy times of Schoooool!! I can’t wait to visit Seneca and Sheridan!

The Fan Expo was really fun, the Artist Alley section got really big! We made some new friends and even met people that joined OLA but never saw their faces before like Kendall ^^

I’ve noticed alot of activity happening in the site and its been really great. There are issues with the avatars by the way and so far we are temporarily working on Gravatar. But if everyone wants to keep the Gravatar we’ll keep it.  If you would like a tutorial on Gravatar like how it works and such Link here.

The OLA website is still in beta and we do not have the funds to support a programmer coder so all of the coding is being done by Mr. Wizard. The achievements are there to give more content to the site and OLA is not trying to spam you, all of the emails are relevant to Ontario League of Artists and its projects. The emails received by the achievements were for rewards that should have been earned over time, but for already experienced users they may have received it all at once, hence the large amount of emails.

If you do not want to receive email notifications for updates to your OLA user account, you can turn them all off on your profile:

1. Login to your OLA account
2. Go to your account page
3. Click Settings tab on the left hand side of your account
4. Under the Options column click Notifications
5. Now highlight yes or no to the events you want be emailed for

The avatar black out problem started when the site version was updated, so it is still being figured out. Meanwhile, please check out the forum and post!

Well I must say every time we do these Sessions i just have a great time! A lot of laughter were shared and some deep discussions about Arts and the course OLA is heading.   Al is going to Sheridan Animation this September and alot of us told him about what our experiences of Sheridan and how fun it is there.  Also about being an artist in college and after college, which really got us into talking about life and art lol.  When you put Me (Madd), Rene, German and Sonny in the same place we really get deep in the Life of an Artist lol.

Also since my test cover and pages of King of All Trades Zine, our ideas for content to the zine is getting bigger.  When we have the web comic strips out we will also push to have it in the Zine.  A lot of potentials has  come up in our sessions but we also would like to take it to the forums to discuss about the future of OLA.  What would you like to excel in? What would you enjoy to do? Lets hear it!
