Site Issues

August 20, 2009

The OLA website is still in beta and we do not have the funds to support a programmer coder so all of the coding is being done by Mr. Wizard. The achievements are there to give more content to the site and OLA is not trying to spam you, all of the emails are relevant to Ontario League of Artists and its projects. The emails received by the achievements were for rewards that should have been earned over time, but for already experienced users they may have received it all at once, hence the large amount of emails.

If you do not want to receive email notifications for updates to your OLA user account, you can turn them all off on your profile:

  1. Login to your OLA account
  2. Go to your account page
  3. Click Settings tab on the left hand side of your account
  4. Under the Options column click Notifications
  5. Now highlight yes or no to the events you want be emailed for

Profile Avatars

The avatar black out problem started when the site version was updated, so it is still being figured out. Meanwhile, please check out the forum and post!

If anyone wishes to help out with the website coding and get this awesome site going,  please email ontarioleagueofartists@gmail.com

Warning: Coding for the site is not paid (yet) but will get you in the good graces of OLA

Great Session!

August 15, 2009

150809

Well I must say every time we do these Sessions i just have a great time! A lot of laughter were shared and some deep discussions about Arts and the course OLA is heading.   Al is going to Sheridan Animation this September and alot of us told him about what our experiences of Sheridan and how fun it is there.  Also about being an artist in college and after college, which really got us into talking about life and art lol.  When you put Me (Madd), Rene, German and Sonny in the same place we really get deep in the Life of an Artist lol.

Also since my test cover and pages of King of All Trades Zine, our ideas for content to the zine is getting bigger.  When we have the web comic strips out we will also push to have it in the Zine.  A lot of potentials has  come up in our sessions but we also would like to take it to the forums to discuss about the future of OLA.  What would you like to excel in? What would you enjoy to do? Lets hear it!

Until next week folks! Peace and Luv!

The Regular Cast!

And Special Guest – Al Jerek!

I gotta get someone who wants to take pictures all the time to capture these sessions lol

Site Wide Update

August 13, 2009

Welcome New Comers

I would like to take this time to Welcome again the newest members of OLA from this week.  We are discussing some ideas of challenges people would like to be a part of in the forums.  Our main policy is to have everyone’s voice out, so that you can feel that you are a part of something.  While the group is still a small community, it is a great opportunity to get to know everyone and show each other your work and create groups together.  If you have an idea for a challenge or an activity do no hesitate to let me know, we could develop it and make it a OLA event or activity.

Site Updates!

  • The Events are now fixed and can be used again.
  • The Featured Art Work is for everyone that has finished art pieces they would like to put up on the front page
  • There is a vote yes and no for comments now
  • Twire is a way for you to tweet and recieve tweets in OLA

Soon to be prepped and ready is the Achievement feature.  Basically it gives you points for anything you do, msg someone, add someone, join a group, etc.  There are certain issues that needs to be addressed before i can activate it.

This site has been very exciting for me because everyone has such hopeful minds and is open for new things.

The Sketch Session wants to try something new which is going to The mississauga city hall.  let me know what you guys think of it cause so far the weather seems to be good for it.

Until then Peace and Luv everyone!!

Sat Skecth Session 080809

The meet up was fantastic! Alot of people showed up this time and we had a blast.  I was scared for the size of the group cause we were running out of tables.  Everyone is obviously concerned about how many people are there so lets open up for some suggestions here to see where’s else is a good place to go to.

So far the places that were mentioned are;

  • Front of City Hall (they have benches and seats and tables
  • Square One food court

I will be looking during the week for another spot close to the location and i will comment on this post just to update.

There are way too many people to thank for the progress of OLA, so i thank you all! Of course we have still alot to do, but that’s the beauty of it, we want to do it.  I wanna thank especially Amy, Rene, German, Sonny and Casey for alot of the progress OLA has been making.  I don’t wanna say too much right now with what’s been the plan, because its kind of an awesome surprise! ^^ Well that’s all i have for now and i will be doing more updates soon after i make some more upgrades.  Until then PEACE AND LUV!

ps Big Ups to Aaron for showing up! yeah i mean another Aaron i’m not talking about myself in the third person.  Oh and Genevieve, Mariel, Dave, and Westley.  You guys are like the epitome of awesomeness!

OLA TV

July 20, 2009

OLA TV is a project that we are starting at the SSauga Sketch Session where we film the members and guests who come to the session. While people are doing their thing (talking, sketching, drinking coffee), we quietly will film segments of the show such as:

  • Questions of the Day
  • Artist of Week
  • Minimum 1 or 2 discussions
  • Updates on OLA’s website

Mind you, these are working titles and also working segments. The show is subject to lots of changes, and mostly experimental. The show is there to create hype and show that we do really exist, and aren’t just cartoons and avatars on the monitor (at least I think so…).

For last week’s SSauga Sketch Session (July 18, 2009), people may have noticed us filming and we were suppose to cut together the first episode but there were many problems with audio. So, first episode will have to be filmed at this week’s Session (July 25, 2009).

We can also discuss this in the forums if you guys have any questions or comments, which are always welcome.
