Um Wow! According to the Globe and Mail site, Ontario understands the internet and the new age industries. So much that they are putting $10 million to fund it.
On Thursday, the province’s minister of culture, Aileen Carroll, is announcing an investment of $10-million in something called the Intellectual Property Development Fund. It’s a one-year pilot program, retroactive to April 1 of this year, that reimburses Ontario “screen-based companies” for expenses they incur in getting a feature film, TV series, video game, “webisode” or Internet property off the ground.
Their way to acquire the grant might not be too easy for most companies tho, but that doesn’t mean we all can’t try it out.

Now that Toronto has won its bid to host the Pan Am Games in 2015, it’s time for the city’s arts leaders to seize a rare opportunity. Athletics may be at its core, but this event can be about much more. It can be the occasion for a cultural explosion.

Kurve is throwing a party at Chiado (864 College St.) on Sunday Nov 15th from 3pm to 5pm. This is a great opportunity to see the jewellery that I make and import and maybe even think of your holiday gifts while supporting Toronto artist. The whole thing is by a local artist friend of mine Nicole. She is very talented and is doing great work with the Jewellery.
The prices look really great so anyone can find something good, so come check them out! I’ll be headin’ out there so if anyone wants to turn it into a sketch session i’ll waitin!

I found an interesting site that could provide small doses of help to artists. It may not be a huge load of money but just enough to launch your small projects to where people are paying attention. Created by Marissa Neave, this site is her Undergraduate Thesis Project for Criticism and Curatorial Practice.
her definition was;
“An experiment in microfunding for the arts,tinygrants facilitates short term, creative interventions through the distribution of small grants to artists at any stage in their career.tinygrants promotes collaboration, participation, curiosity and awareness amongst a broad range of artists and audiences.”
Which i find interesting, but i’ll find anything interesting as long as its something that gives people a chance. Because really that’s what we are all looking for, a chance, to be heard.
Check out the site and see if this is the kind of grant you are looking for. http://www.tinygrants.ca/
I just found this video to be really interesting and pretty inspiring. Just seeing his little methods here and there was enough to throw me back to my big piece works. I think i miss them lol. His mixture of Paint and Spray paint is particularly cool cause as you will see he’ll occasionally over spray it and pick up some of the paint with the bottom of his can and throw it back on to splatter. Very interesting stuff, if you haven’t noticed his Writer name is SHEONE ^^
