Ontario creates $10-million fund to aid ‘screen-based’ companies

Um Wow! According to the Globe and Mail site, Ontario understands the internet and the new age industries.  So much that they are putting $10 million to fund it.

On Thursday, the province’s minister of culture, Aileen Carroll, is announcing an investment of $10-million in something called the Intellectual Property Development Fund. It’s a one-year pilot program, retroactive to April 1 of this year, that reimburses Ontario “screen-based companies” for expenses they incur in getting a feature film, TV series, video game, “webisode” or Internet property off the ground.

Their way to acquire the grant might not be too easy for most companies tho, but that doesn’t mean we all can’t try it out.

Create Your Own Artist Trading Card to celebrate the Cultural Olympiad!

The East meets the West!

The City of Mississauga, Culture Division and the Art Gallery of Mississauga are partnering with the City of Calgary to celebrate the 2010 Cultural Olympiad.

Everyone is invited to make a card.

DESIGN A CARD
Cards must be 2.5 x 3.5 inches, made of sturdy paper.
Media can be: pencil, paint, pastels, fabric, collage, etc.
Suggested Themes: Sportsmanship, Friendship, My Canada
Sign the back of the card and include your city name.

It is NOT affiliated with the “official” Cultural Olympiad in B.C.

I am totally doing this, i hope you guys find some time to try this out cause i’m gonna make some time for it ^^
